What are we doing here?

Fighting the stigma surrounding mental health in the West Indian Community,

encouraging holistic well-being (mind, body, spirit) and creating a safe space for the younger generation to speak out.

West Indian

In 1492, Christopher Columbus became the first European to record his arrival at the islands, where he is believed by historians to have first set foot on land in The Bahamas.

After the first of the voyages of Christopher Columbus to the Americas, Europeans began to use the term West Indies to distinguish this region from both the original "Indies" (i.e. India) and the East Indies of South Asia.

The subregion includes all the islands in the Antilles, plus The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, which are in the North Atlantic Ocean. This also includes some Central and South American mainland nations which have Caribbean coastlines or coastlines close to the Caribbean, such as Belize, French Guiana, Guyana, and Suriname, as well as the Atlantic island nation of Bermuda.

Well Being

Well-being is a positive state experienced by individuals and societies. Similar to health, it is a resource for daily life and is determined by social, economic and environmental conditions.

Objective well-being includes/involves physical factors that widely account for our basic needs. Examples include food/nutrition, money, employment, housing, safety, physical and mental health, and human rights.
