I’m working towards my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and am a proud advocate for mental health and social justice.

 

I created West Indian Well-Being because I see the cycles of trauma that exist within our culture, and I wanted to make change. I hope to build a community that promotes vulnerability, growth, and healing.

Reanna

I am a pre-licensed therapist with over five years of experience working in the mental health field. 

 

As a queer, outspoken, and passionate advocate for mental health and overall well-being, I co-founded this mission after witnessing firsthand the stigma and challenges faced by the Caribbean community. My work is driven by a deep commitment to fostering support, breaking barriers, and creating spaces for healing. I am passionate about giving back and bringing joy and laughter to those around me.

Mel

I have an Associate’s degree in Exercise Science and Accounting. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration and Economics. I’ve worked in the medical field for over eight years. Six of the eight years was direct patient care.

 

I’m honored to be apart of West Indian Well-Being. Passing down generational trauma needs to stop somewhere and that’s where I hope to help make a difference. I want to break the stigma of mental health in our community and be able to help others heal and know they’re not alone.

Anita

I am a certified Social Media Manager and I own a digital marketing agency. I am also a published author of a trauma poetry series.

Working with West Indian Well Being is such an important part of my life because I have 3 beautiful children that I am trying to set a better example for. Mental health is so stigmatized in the Caribbean community and this is the chance to break the cycle and help younger generations understand that there is no shame in asking for help, and that there are resources out there readily willing and able to assist.

Amrita

I have my Associates in Medical Assisting. I was a Human Resources Manager for over a decade and recently made a career change to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging.  

 

I have a passion for helping others and making sure their voices are heard loud and clear. I joined West Indian Well-Being because I wanted to help, connect and support my community. As most of us are first-generation Americans, we can stop the trauma cycle by creating a supporting – healthy environment for the next generation and generations to come. 

Nalini

I have a degree in Business Analytics and have worked for UnitedHealth Group for 5+ years.

 

I am passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community, one reason why I was excited to join WIWB.

 

This mission is important to me because I know others who have been impacted by mental illness and substance abuse. I am a strong believer that one’s mental health is just as important as their physical health

Vinita

I’m currently pursuing my bachelor’s in Human Services and hope to continue learning more about mental health and community support. 

 

 I’m passionate about breaking cycles of generational trauma. I want to get more people involved in the conversation—whether through community events, raising awareness, or fostering connections at the mandir. Mental health is important, and I believe real change happens when we come together to support one another.
